Hi hi,
Another foundation feature!!! I like to test out foundations, as you all know, and this time I will be showing you two new products from Clarins. They will be launched this month, and more information if you read on. Hopefully, this will be useful to those of you who are shopping for a new foundation, especially powder foundations.
In this entry, you will find the following points:
- what the foundation claims to do (some technical background information)
- how it looks on me, and my comments about the overall texture
- how it looks like after about 6 - 7 hours of wear

Prices and my matching shade
The case and refills are sold separately (case is $20, refill $55). I was sent two shades to try, and honestly both suit my skintone. I have a fair neutral skin tone, neither yellow nor too pinky, and as you can see in the picture above, one is slightly beigey, and one is slightly pinkier. But in terms of the shade, both are just nice (not too light nor dark). I actually applied each shade on either side of my face to see which is a better match, and there is NO difference at all. I believe if you have a stronger undertone, then it would make a difference, as my sister helped me to try out both the shades, and she is more suited for the 01 IY shade. So she will be reviewing this foundation together with me! :)
The formulation and ingredients about this foundation
This is "a foundation which offers a flawless sculpting, smoothing light while preserving the soft, supple qualities of the skin. A revolutionary, high-performance formula and a concentrate of plant essences specially designed for Asian women who dream of a radiant, even complexion in any circumstance, and a feeling of long-lasting comfort."
Thanks to the “3d Luminance” pigment, natural light is diffused in a way that sculpts the face:
• on the rounded parts of the face, the pigment reflects all wavelengths of the light spectrum, in other words, very pure, white light. This maximum reflection highlights these areas, giving them maximum light and enhancing contours.
• on the hollow parts of the face (sides of the nose, sides of the face), the pigment only reflects part of the light spectrum and diffuses back a bluish-white light. Reflection of light is reduced, which heightens contrasts and refines facial contours.
I am not too sure if this effect is immediately apparent in my pictures, but I can say that the powder is very very finely milled and my sister tried on the other shade, and she is a regular powder foundation user (she has been using Dior extreme fit powder foundation for years), she is very impressed, and given the lower price point, she says she will be switching to this powder foundation instead. I will be featuring her in my subsequent entries featuring this product, so that you can also see how it works on somebody with different skintone and different skin type.
My Half Face Experiment:
Does half my face look more sculpted? More flawless?
I like how using a powder foundation means you don't need to set your face, and everything is 'done'. In terms of coverage, I would say it is a 4 - 5 (with 10 being the maximum coverage). I still need to cover the spots which are more obvious, but everything else is mostly evened out. I like how it has a powdery softness which is pretty long lasting (which you can see in later pics) but since I have an oily T-zone, the area kind of wears off by the end of the night.

Actually in the next pic, I wore both shades of the foundation -- one shade on each side, to see which is more suitable for me ---- but I don't think there is a visible diff at all!! So I went out wearing 2 different shades, and I don't think anyone knew the difference. So I told my sister she can take whichever shade that is better for her, while I will use the other one.

And this is the results -- which is the LOTD you saw in the previous entry.

and I had to end this entry abruptly and went out in this makeup... went out, sat in a hot crowded stadium, then had dinner at a non-ac place, drove around a bit, and came home...maybe 5 or 6 hours later?? and this is what is left:

Side by side comparisons: and totally random and unrelated, but check out how frizzzy my hair looks when it is freshly washed, and how silky smooth it is after a few hours. No hair products, and no combing either! :)
I wish the 'after 6 hours' pictures could capture how powdery soft my face still looks, especially the cheeks area... it's only the T zone that is slightly worn off...overall, I think it is something I would slap on, especially when I want a quick fix, and also for that no makeup feel, cos with powder foundations, it is just a lot lighter than using liquids.... and this is definitely a very fine quality powder foundation that is not cakey, nor thick at all.

Epic entry there!! I tried to be as detailed as I can and show pics etc etc ... hope this is helpful, and if you think I have left out anything, leave them in the comments below!
Thanks for reading.
ps Clarins products were sent to me for review. All opinions are my own honest ones.
