Modern Gothic Look

Would I step out of the house looking like this? Of course not. Frankly, this is not a look for me. But I had fun trying to pile on the colors (or the lack there of, in this case) in this look.

I am trying (very loosely) to recreate the modern gothic look which pixiwoo did to promote/ raise awareness of the Sophie Lancaster foundation.

Products used:

Face: Christian Dior Radiant Base, MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation (NC15), Set with Maybelline Loose Powder in Porcelain (for added paleness)

Cheeks: NARS Laguna and NARS Orgasm

I left my brows bare for this look.

Eyes: MAC Vanilla e/s, MAC Black Tied e/s (which I applied over Stila Gold Noir smudgepot used as a base here). Liners: MAC Black Russian

Lashes: Red Cherry #218, and Shu Uemura Cobweb, and also YSL Faux Cils

Lips: I used Studio Sculpt concealer to erase the lips, and then applied MAC Underaged lipglass.

When everything is done, I dusted MUFE HD powder all over my face for a flawless finish. You can't see the effect of this product unless you take pictures and all that.

Faux Leather jacket from Bershka. I was sweating buckets when taking these pictures. Not cool at all, especially for a goth look.

On hindsight, I think this looks more like a super black smokey eye, than the goth look. Oh well. I hope I didn't cause any offense to anybody out there.

Heading out for lunch now and decided to be all fanciful with my makeup.

Face: Shu Uemura Nobura foundation, set with MAC MSF (light). Concealer: MAC Studio Sculpt (NC20)

Cheeks: NARS Laguna, and MAC Blonde MSF (LE)

Lips: MAC Amorous Cremesheen Glass (LE)

Eyes: MAC Spiced Chocolate Quad (LE), Your Ladyship pigment. Liners: Stila Smudgepot in Brown, and MAC Orpheus (LE) on lower lids.

Lashes: MAC 3/4 lashes from Hello Kitty, and YSL Faux Cils

When everything is done, I dusted MUFE HD powder all over my face.

And for the Fall season effect, I threw on a leopard print scarf. Haha. But I didn't leave the house with that. I wore a zebra print shirt instead.

I thought this LOTD reminded me of the rich colors seen on the Gucci runways this season too. Not that I am saying I look like the models, but the colors are along the same lines.

And this picture, I was playing around with the contrast and brightness of the picture, hence the dramatic, if not harsh 'lighting' of the end results. I kind of like the effect.

Mini Gaga (fun makeup sessions)

Hi! I almost forgot to post this! So glad for the long weekend, which also explains why I am still up at 3am.

I was requested by the bestie's 6 year old daughter (whom you might have seen in my previous post) to recreate my Lady Gaga inspired look and I can't possibly re-do the whole thing, so I just did the lips part, which is really the point of the whole look anyway.

I used the MUFE white cream stick to create the background for the heart shaped mouth, and I used a black liner to draw the shape, and filled in with the Stila Gold Noir smudgepot. For a fun kick, I pasted a few faux crystals onto the tips, but got lazy cos the crystals were super tiny and hard to handle.

Then, she wanted me to try it out on her. I can't possibly do the same black heart on a little girl, so I used PINK instead, with my MAC Pink Vivid cream color stick. The wacky shades I bought in H&M when I was in Paris last year. She was soooo happy with the whole little makeup session. Haha.

And I bought these instead...

So I didn't get the Zara blouse from the previous entry, but I bought these 2 items instead.

One is a shirt from Fcuk, and the other is Madonna's Celebration album. I bought the Video Collection which consists of 2 DVDS with 47 of her videos, and I thought it is rather good value at $32.90 from HMV.

Got the shirt at Tangs (having the 12% rebate promotion going on), and it is actually a man's shirt, but I like the dots, and how the buttons don't go all the way down, so I think it doesn't look TOO masculine. Plus my bro can borrow this shirt from me if he needs to. Everyone at home can wear this! Haha.

I think I will pair this with my trusty leggings and MAC's Russian Red lipstick! If I do this, I will post pictures over the weekend.

And random outfit of the day: I haven't worn this tunic blouse in more than a year, so I wore it to work today, napped in it this afternoon and then to color my BFF's hair at home, and go to town to meet my sister!! I bought this from FCUK too.

Reject from the Fitting Room

Hi! Thought I would bring you all into the fitting room with me.

Here I just want to share what type of clothes I am drawn to, and what I don't like.

Take for example this blouse from Zara (S$75), and I was super attracted to the style of it - I prolly own 123890382 similar blouses, but the little studs on the bodice was what made me try it on. Looks good so far, and I was ready to plonk down my $$ for it. Let's take a closer look.

What changed my mind later was this part:

Yup, so phew!!! $75 saved. And I walked out of Zara empty handed but contented.

Major hauling going on, obviously! My sis bought £100+ of MU at Superdrugs!! Check out the Barry M pink counter in the background. :)

I can't wait to see what she bought. Argh, long days of waiting ahead til Monday when they come back to SG.

LOTD: Rose Gold on my eyes

Hi hi,

Just want to show off my new inuovi eyeshadow which I just got in Rose Gold. It is a really nice red coppery colour. I decided to be a little more fancy with my eye makeup today (ie using 2 or more colors instead of my usual 1 color fits all EOTD). And I can't say enough about the 'creamy' texture of the product. You need only a little product for maximum impact.

Another little side note: I have not been using my usual TFSI or Paintpots etc as a base for my eyeshadows. Sometimes I find that they make my eyeshadows look a little too 'thick'. They also change the 'texture' or finish of my eyeshadows. So I have been using MAC Vanilla eyeshadow as a 'base' before I apply other eye colors.

What I used here:

Eyes: (Base - MAC Vanilla eyeshadow), (Highlight: Inuovi Platinum e/s), (Inner corners: MAC Ricepaper & Solarwhite e/s), (Outer corners/crease: Inuovi Rose Gold eyeshadow -- I blended this color quite a bit so it looks more subtle for my early morning workday but you can pack on the color for a dramatic night look)

Liner: Stila's Gold Noir Smudge Pot on upper lid, and MAC Powersurge eye pencil.

No mascara etc.

Cheeks: NARS Laguna to contour, and NARS Mounia (cos it soooooo matches the Rose Gold eyeshadow)

Lips: YSL RV Nude Beige, and MAC Underaged lipgloss.

p/s: I resized the pictures and inserted the text all by myself in PS for this entry. Woot to that!!! :)

Everyone must try out the Inuovi Metallogy eyeshadows, and you know I am not saying that for the heck of it. :)

Question of Taste: To belt or not?

Hi!

I was goofing around with this outfit, the top I just got yesterday at Zara. Do let me know if I should wear the belt with the outfit. I might wear this to a dinner event on Sat evening, it is formal, but I don't want to be too dressed up, so I thought this is a flattering and simple getup without trying too hard. My mom suggested I wear this belt because the metal parts match the studded details of the top. And the whole time I was laughing so hard trying to "pose" because my brother is the camera man, and you can imagine how bemused and disdainful he feels while I boss him around to get a decent shot. So, credits to him~ Haha..

*Ok clearly I need to wear a black bra on the actual day.

*This is when I was laughing uncontrollably and that's why the pics are blur. My failed attempt at striking one of those VOGUE poses.

The belt is an elastic band, and it is covered with 'brass metal plates overlapping one another' and it is of the same color/metal as the studs. I tucked the top in, so that the belt fits neatly at the waist. Do you think it cuts too harshly across my frame?

Product Rave: St Ives Moisturizing In-shower Exfoliating Body Polish

I just need to rave about this product as soon as I stepped out of the shower. I love it and I want to share the love. Haha.

I mentioned this in my previous collective haul entry. It is the St Ives Moisturizing In-shower Exfoliating Body Polish (Oatmeal & Shea Butter). There are 2 other flavours too, but I forgot what they were. I am sure this product is commonly available at all Guardian or Watsons/ drugstores where St Ives products are sold. Not sure about the usual price though, but I paid only S$7 for this at the expo.

Product description: "Formula with natural sugar crystals and Oatmeal & Shea Butter extracts gently exfoliates & cleanses to leave your skin smooth, bright and moisturised without over-drying for radiant, irresitibly soft skin. Reseal cap to avoid excess water in jar."

This product also comes in the body wash version, if you want to layer the scent. I like the scent very much. Sweet and wholesome, not overpowering.

Why I am raving about this product is what I like how soft my skin feels. And because the scrub bits are sugar crystals, it means that as you are scrubbing the product on your skin, the bits get smaller. The sugar crystals literally melts away, so it can't get too harsh/ abrasive on your skin. When I used this, I had actually used my regular shower foam, and after rinsing, I used this exfoliating body polish only on my arms and legs.

Furthermore, I am not a fan of bath products that leave a oily sticky feeling, and this scrub left my skin moisturised but never sticky nor greasy. That is a BIG plus in my books.

And now I am out of the shower all nicely scrubbed, it is a good time to finish off with my Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Body Cream before I go to bed. :)
