Ettusais Quick Fix Powder

Hi hi!

This entry features the famous Ettusais Quick Fix Powder - I was introduced to it a while back by my girlfriends who all raved about this powder that is awesome for touch ups, and making your face look fresh and smooth after using it. When I was introduced to it again last Dec, I was super excited to try it out myself. The Quick Fix Powder is usually limited edition, but I have seen it still on the shelves lately, so definitely check it out if you have been wanting to try it.

I personally love it for its compact packaging, the very fluffy & dense powder puff, and how it provides light coverage while touching up my skin. It doesn't look cakey at all, and is super finely milled. Highly highly recommend this Quick Fix powder!

It retails for S$28 for 6.5g of product.

Product description:

This pressed powder instantly covers to even out skin texture and skin tone, hiding blemishes while preventing skin roughness with skin roughness preventing mineral powder. The Smooth Fit Coat that covers each powder particle helps powders fit onto skin beautifully so your make-up won’t look cakey after touching up. The Shine Prevention Powder also prevents shine from showing too quickly and helps for a longer lasting finish. Contains SPF 10 PA ++.

A close up of the packaging:

You can seen a fine smooth layer on my skin here:

Here's my niece 'modelling' the compact.. heheh, she loves to explore what's in my makeup bag whenever we meet. No surprises why I am her favourite aunt, huh?

Hope you find this entry helpful, and thanks for looking!

Nicole by OPI Love Your Life [Photos & Swatches]

Hi hi!

The first color I wanted to try right away from my stash of Nicole by OPI colors is Love your Life - a sheer pink jelly base, with fine holographic glitter and larger pieces of light pink hearts! Got to thank Sarah for spotting it and picking it for me!

I decided to pair it over a black instead of the typical pinky pale combo. Love the results, the holo glitter bits show up beautifully over the black, especially so under sunlight, and bright lights.

The heart bits took some effort to pick up from the bottle, but they are quite easy to 'arrange' on the nails. Super super cute!

Nicole by OPI polishes retail for S$12.90 at selected Watsons.

Hope you enjoy the swatches:

and a blurred shot to show the glitter bits.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge & Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer: My TOP Picks [Swatches, LOTDs]

Hi hi this entry features 4 colors I picked from Shiseido's latest Perfect Rouge - I have previously featured the new range and swatches in this entry here.

I wanted to go for something bold, yet classic, so here we have:

RD142 - the color which is featured in the ad campaign

RD514 - the classic Shiseido RED

RS745 - a beautiful mauvey rosy almost plum shade

RS509 - a sheer version of RS745, it contains silvery shimmer bits

The Perfect Rouge are super creamy, and long lasting. I love how the colors are so intense across the range, and they offer something for everyone, whether you want beigy nudes, pinky nudes, bold pinks and oranges, etc. The Tender Sheer delivers super creamy color, and while they aren't as color intense as the Perfect Rouge, I must say that they quite pigmented as well.

Love the formula of these lipsticks, they are so easy to apply, and you get true color on your lips as what you see in the tube.

Here's a quick LOTD I did to complement all the lip colors - all products used will be listed at the end fo this entry.

All products used:

Face - Maquillage Styling Keep Base UV, Shiseido Radiant Lifting Foundation, Chanel Translucent Loose Powder

Concealer - cle de peau beaute concealer

Cheeks - Illamasqua Tremble blush, Shiseido Bronzer 02 medium, Shiseido Luminizing Face Satin Color PK107 (to highlight)

Lips - as listed in the pictures above

Eyes - NARS primer, Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in BR209, Shu Uemura Farfarlina lashes

Brows - Shu Uemura brow manicure Ash Brown, brow pencil in Seal Brown

Hope this is helpful, and thanks for reading!

Nicole by OPI offers a salon-quality range of bold, fashion-forward nail lacquers. The brand’s heritage is based in OPI’s well-established foundation of excellence in both color and technology, providing premium products to a broad range of consumers looking for trendsetting nail lacquers. Nicole by OPI was developed to meet demand at the retail level for products with OPI’s high standards. With a strong focus on accessorizing fashion, Nicole by OPI serves as the color authority for the younger demographic.

Since its official inception in 2007, Nicole by OPI has grown exponentially, with an increased international market presence planned for 2013. In the US and Canada, the Nicole by OPI range boasts over 120 shades, including retailer-exclusive lacquers. Internationally, the line includes over 65 shades. Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, who has created every OPI nail lacquer since 1989 when the company entered the world of color, is also the designer behind every Nicole by OPI hue.

In 2010, Nicole by OPI announced the brand’s first celebrity collaboration featuring lacquers inspired by Justin Bieber. Within less than two months, the line’s initial run of one million bottles sold out, and Nicole by OPI tripled this number to meet consumer demand. Since this successful launch, Nicole by OPI has partnered with reality television stars Kris Jenner and her five daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloé Kardashian and Kendall and Kylie Jenner to launch Kardashian Kolor. In January 2013, the brand will release two exciting new collections with celebrity and television partners Selena Gomez and ABC’s Modern Family. These new ventures bring excitement and notoriety to the Nicole by OPI brand, as seen most recently in top US national publications including Allure, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Lucky and Seventeen.

In Singapore, Nicole by OPI is available in an extensive palette of 30 shades, and is available exclusively at Watsons. Price: $12.90 each

Nicole by OPI and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products Announce Collaboration with

Hit ABC Comedy Modern Family

Nicole by OPI, in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, launches 14 new nail lacquers inspired by ABC’s award-winning comedy, Modern Family. The nail line features shades created to capture the show’s colorful personalities, from a classic taupe named after family patriarch Jay, to a sparkly pink hue fitting for toddler Lily.

“Modern Family is not only one of the funniest shows on television, it features a great ensemble cast of rich characters that inspired a range of shades, from pastel hues like sea foam green and periwinkle to brighter colors of cobalt and red-violet,” remarks Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “From studious Alex to bombshell Gloria, to classic (and neurotic) Claire, to flirty Haley, there are shades to represent each of these uniquely fabulous women and everyone else in the blended family.

“The Nicole consumer embraces the same spirit of diversity and individuality that’s apparent on the show,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “The colors inspired by Modern Family offer a perfect way to express that spirit!”

Modern Family is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television and licensed through Fox Consumer Products. Jeffrey Godsick, President of Fox Consumer Products added, “Modern Family is a series that has a massive following. In partnering with Nicole by OPI, we’re not only able to reach our show’s large fan base, but deliver a product that captures the trend-forward elements and unique characteristics of the series.”

The Modern Family Collection available in Singapore includes:

About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks. I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks. I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare. I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11. Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80. I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry. I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to. I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item. I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

Twitter (link button above!) Email (stated above!) Instagram (makeup_blogette)

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all. The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Final Disclaimer

I bought/ paid for all of the products mentioned in this blog. I am not affliated to any company. If certain products are sent to me for review purposes, I will say so and express my honest opinions about them. In any case, I will only review and showcase the products which I have personally tried and tested, and enjoy using. I do not get paid to review anything.

No ads, no paid links etc please. I am in charge of all content and pictures here.
