Hallo!
It's my third, or fourth? day in Beijing, and I realise just how much I miss walking about in the cold weather. To a tropical city girl like me, being able to experience the autumn/ winter months overseas is really something refreshing. There was a little snowstorm the first day we came, but other than that, the skies are clear, and the air is crisp. It is also quite special to be in the city at the same time as their first major political meeting in 10 years, lots of traffic, lots of security, and just this air of anticipation all around.
Went to a few places which I could strike off my bucket list. It is truly awesome to be standing at the very locations where history is made of. You can feel the solemn atmosphere, despite the throngs of (mainly domestic) tourists teeming the places like Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and so on. I can't wait to visit the Great Wall in a couple of days.
Of course, let's rewind back to Singapore, it was a late night flight, and shopping had to be done. And shopping I did. I am going on another trip in December, so I think I was quite modest.
1. Lady Gaga Fame in 50ml (they didn't have the 30ml available at DFS...and on hind sight, I think this might have been cheaper during the brief Sephora sale, I can't remember the exact prices).
2. Chanel No5 EDT 50ml (slightly over $100) I swear, it's the Brad Pitt ad that totally sucked me into buying this heady scent.
3. Chanel Perfection Lumiere ($66 I think) It took me so long to get it, right? I know! But yea, finally.
I also spotted the Guerlain holiday 2012 collection out, and prior to my trip to DFS, I had a couple of items which I wanted to get very badly, but after seeing the collection in person, I changed my mind. Besides I have my money set on purchasing the NARS holiday releases come 15 Nov!
This is my first meal when I arrived in Beijing. Ironic huh? We were at the National Theatre (which is like...10 times bigger than our Esplanade?) and there was this cafe... Lunch wasn't til later, and breakfast in our flight was just sucky.. hence I grabbed a tuna sandwich and a coke light just to fill my tummy.
While walking to the National Theatre, I caught this lovely fallen leaves all over, and I had to snap a pic. It is just so fall, you know? And that lone red leaf right in the middle is just priceless. Wearing my pair of old boots which I bought in London like 3 or 4 years back.
At the park outside the Temple of Heaven, I saw this group of ladies doing dance movements according to some music playing. Love the colors in this pic, the leaves, and their bright outfits.
The Forbidden City is astounding.
Details.
One must come to Beijing and have the Peking Duck. This is pure perfection.
Who cares about the calories?
Every bite is a crispy fragrant morsel of heaven. Haha. How dramatic.
My lips combination for the cold days. I first applied Lipstick Queen Medieval for a red stained effect, and slapped on the Sugar Fresh lipbalm. Together they give my lips some color and also kept them smooth and moisturised.
Finishing off this entry with a 'backview' of the Forbidden City. The set was setting (it was only about 4.30pm) and the view is just amazing.
Hope to be able to post a couple more entries in later this week. Mainly my travel beauty products, which work and did not work...that could be interesting!
Thanks for reading!
