CHANEL Haul: Rouge Coco Shine & Chance Eau Fraîche

this entry will feature a few Chanel goodies I purchased recently.

Yesterday before going up to the Sky Gardens, I popped by the Chanel store at MBS to check out the newly launched Rouge Coco Shine (click HERE for my previous entry about them), and I knew exactly what color I was getting, which is Boy ---and that is also the color which poster girl Vanessa is wearing.

Temptalia has a new entry about these Rouge Coco Shine this morning, check it out HERE.

Price: $44 each

Initial thoughts: super smooth, creamy, shiny.  Feels like a lip blam.  Very moisturising.  I swatched about 10 colors at the store yesterday, some are more pigmented than the others.  I am also eyeing Liberte, Chance, Monte Carlo, etc.. the list goes on.  The good news is that they are permanent additions to the Chanel collection, so you have plenty of time to collect/ stock up.

Each purchase of the lipstick also get you a freebie,  and the BA also offered me a complimentary makeover session mid-month, when the HK based Chanel MUA will be coming down to the store to do makeup.  So I got one session booked for myself.  Kind of excited, except that I am a little nervous about having people (even professionals) do my foundation and lashes.

Here is the freebie - last year, when the Rouge Coco were released, they were giving out Chanel buttons.

Just a comparison of the Rouge Coco Shine - it is slightly smaller than the regular Rouge Coco.

From L to R:

Rouge Coco Shine, Rouge Coco, Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss, Rouge Allure Lacque, Rouge Allure

And the next two items - I didn't mean to!  I had previously purchased the hair mist at Tangs last week, but yesterday also saw the release of two additions to their current Chance fragrance - the shimmering gel, and sheer moisture mist.  I tried the shimmering gel, super super pretty, but it's not something I would use all the time.  The sheer moisture mist, though, is a cooling spray, moisturising to your skin, and a nice layering product to the perfume itself.  I have the Chance Eau Fraîche perfume, and getting these two are like 'accessories' to the outfit.

Been spraying the hair mist this week whenever I go out for food, and I particularly like the light scent, it doesn't clash with your other perfumes, so you don't necessarily have to be wearing the same scent.  I know there are equally effective and scented hair mists out there that doesn't cost more than $20....but we like little treats like this!  :)

Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche Hair Mist 35ml $56

Chanel Chance Eau Fraîche Sheer Moisture Mist 100ml $61

The shimmery gel and sheer moisture mist come in the original Chance version too.

That's all and thanks for looking.

NEW Rachel K Mineral Cosmetics Now Available at Watsons [Swatches & Application]

Hi hi!

Last night, we were invited to Rachel K's party to celebrate the launch of her mineral cosmetics line at selected Watsons. The collection was out 1 April 2011, and we had the chance to try out most of the products in the range.

The cosy and chic party was at the MBS Sky Gardens, where we had chocolate buffet (at The Club) and chatted about the new products and tasted waaaay too much chocolate.  The informal gathering was hosted by Rachel herself, who is beautiful and sporting flawless skin, and gorgeous hair.  *envious*  More pictures on that later this entry.

I will be featuring the products, swatches, and application/ initial thoughts in this entry.

Here, we have the Mineral Color Control BB Cream, which has whitening and nourishing properties.  It contains white tea extracts, which are powerful anti-oxidants.  The BB cream is also moisturising, offers UV protection [25PA+++] and is waterproof.  I am not an expert on BB creams at all, having only recently tried out the Bobbi Brown one, but as we swatched the product last night, both Sarah and I were impressed by how creamy smooth it felt on our hands.  And Rachel said she was wearing that on her face since 3pm....and believe me, her face looked flawless.  Very fair, very smooth.

Price: S$35

Currently only available in this one shade.  More shades are in the works.

And swatches on my hand -- I am about a MAC NC15-20.

And my half face experiment - I tried this out for my morning market/ errand trip.

My initial thoughts: compared to the more yellowish tone of the Bobbi Brown BB cream, this seems to make my skintone brighter and fairer.  And it instantly renders my skin so smooth, which is amazing, considering the fact that I just woke up, I did not apply any skincare products prior to the BB cream.

And then I decided to 'set' the BB cream with the BB Pressed Powder, which I got in Medium shade.  It isn't too dark, and helps to take a away the stark fairness of my skintone after the BB cream.  Together, these two products form a beautiful flawless face, in five minutes.  It might seem like an exaggeration, but I think this might convert me to a BB cream user.  [Don't worry, I am still loyal to all my wonderful liquid foundations!]

This Color Control Blemish Balm pressed powder is a 3-in-1 makeup foundation.  It is a natural concealer, and contains SPF15 protection.  The powder is pigment rich, and protects the skin with antioxidants and bound with Organic Shea Butter and Vit E.  It is designed to glide on smoothly to blend with and allow the natural skin tone to show through and provides excellent coverage for flawless finish.  It is 100% chemical free, preservatives free, talc free and non-comedogenic.

It is suitable for every skin type and condition.

The packaging of the pressed powder is very girly bling, and very 'solid'.  It comes in 3 shades, from light, medium to dark.

Price: S$38

I just need to conceal my spots, but considering the fact that I did not use any primer, no foundation, just the BB cream and powder, this amount of coverage and finish is very impressive.

And next, with purchase of Rachel K products, you also receive the Mineral Lip Plumper (not too sure of the details) which are Limited Edition.  They feel very cooling and minty on your lips, slightly tingly, which must be the plumping action.

Limited Edition.  Gift with purchase.  Check store for details.

And lip swatches - they are beautiful.  slightly sticky, but very smooth.

And we also got this niffty brush with powder dispenser which I have seen before in cosmetic supplies store and Coastal Scents, basically you can fill it up with your fave loose powder, and use it for touch ups on the go.  The packaging also means that you can keep the brush clean, and the powder doesn't go all over your makeup bag.

Price: TBA

Here are some pictures of our gathering last night.  Special thanks to Rachel for having us, and also to Sarah!  It was awesome as usual, to hang out with the girls, and also meet new faces to share common interests in such a nice location.

Most Watsons carry the Rachel K line, including Suntec, Marina Square, Vivo City, Raffles City, Ion, Nex, Ngee Ann City and many more situated in the heartland malls.

LOTD: Eyes to Kill & Viva Glam Gaga II Lips

Hi hi,

uploading this quick LOTD entry before I leave the house.   More updates later!

All products used:

Foundation - Shu Uemura mousse base BB Beige shade, Giorgio Armani Lasting UV foundation, La Mer Powder

Concealers - Shu Uemura Nobura for spots, Lancome Teint Miracle perfector pen

Cheeks - Giorgio Armani Blush in #5, Guerlain Pressed Meteorites Powder

Eyes - NARS primer, NARS Abyssinia eyeshadow (brow bone), Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense #3 (lids), Smashbox Masquerade navy blue (crease)

Liners - Heavy Rotation Liquid Liner, MAC Black Line (lower lids)

Mascara/ Lashes - Clinique Lower Lash mascara, and the lashes that I mentioned in THIS entry

Lips - MAC Viva Glam Gaga II Lipstick and Lipglass

No special reason why I didn't match lower lid colors to the upper lids, except that I am too lazy to blend eyeshadows on lower lids.

Smudging a pencil there is much easier and faster.

Nails are Rescue Beauty Lounge's Grunge - not that you can appreciate its nude beauty in this black and white shot. LOL!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Thanks for looking!

About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.
