About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

NEW Lancôme Rénergie Eye Multiple Action [Photos & First Impressions]

Just a chat about what I use to care for my eyes, and to ramble about this new product I am using.  I don't have particularly bad circles nor bags, but I do worry about wrinkles and lines around my eyes -- and those are starting to show if I don't take care of my skin and especially my eye area.  And it is really never too early to start on eye-cream whether you are in your late teens or early 20s.  A good basic eye cream which I used before is the Bioderma one.

I ordered this eye-cream from Nordstrom [whopping USD$75!!!] sometime back, and haven't started using it til the last couple of days.  Pior to this eye-cream, I have been using a sample tub of Lancôme Youth Activating Eye Concentrate [didn't notice any significant effect], and also my Clarins eye-creams.  Since then, those eye creams have run out, and I have been using the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream for a couple of weeks.

I confessed I got suckered into this product because I saw in my US ALLURE mag in June -- thinking that I would be able to purchase it when I come back to Singapore, I was kicking myself only to find out that we don't have this here!  Fortunately,  I have been told by the people at Lancôme that they are launching this next year. In the US, this eye cream comes in three shades [light, medium, dark - I bought mine in Light].

Immediately, many of us would think of the Garnier BB roll on for eyes (which I also own but have not started using) due to the tinted formula that this product comes with.  Maybe I might do a comparison in time to come -- though it is hardly fair to compare two products which are at opposite ends of the price spectrum.

    My current eye-care routine:

I use Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream at night - love the smooth, light and moisturising texture.   Then I use the Lancôme Rénergie Eye Multiple Action in the day time, since it contains SPF15.

    Regardless.....some information about this eye-cream:

"The ultimate eye care duo.  6 rejuvenating actions."

Inspired by the latest eye rejuvenating trends, Lancôme invents Rénergie Eye Multiple Action.

Formula 1: to lift, firm and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.  Enriched with GF-Volumetry complex, inspired by research on cellular communication factors.

Formula 2: This 'barely there' tinted treatment acts in synergy with Formula 1 to visibly fade dark cirles, deflates the appearance of bags and instantly illuminates the eye area.

[you can see some before after pics at lancome-usa.com/multipleaction]

Two Formulas (not formulae?), 6 Visible Actions:

    1. Reduce dark eye circles
    2. Bags appear deflated
    3. Eye area appears illuminated
    4. Eyelids are visibly lifted
    5. Skin looks firmed
    6. Wrinkles appear reduced

I find the eye-cream portion of this product very thick and creamy.  You need just a tiny wheeny bit to pat into the undereye area and also on the lids. Then I use the tinted veil on top.  I used a bit more product for the purposes of demonstration in these pictures.

    Hope this has been helpful!

    Thanks for looking!
