About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

Twitter (link button above!)  Email (stated above!)  Instagram (makeup_blogette)

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Final Disclaimer

I bought/ paid for all of the products mentioned in this blog. I am not affliated to any company. If certain products are sent to me for review purposes, I will say so and express my honest opinions about them. In any case, I will only review and showcase the products which I have personally tried and tested, and enjoy using. I do not get paid to review anything.

YSL Rouge Volupte No 1 & 19 (from ebay)

    Hi,

I bought these 2 lipsticks from ebay.com.sg, and the seller is of course, based in S'pore.  This saves me a lot of money on postage.  I spent a total of $65 (registered mail) for these 2 lipsticks, and considering that each is selling for $42 in the stores (or used to), I say I got a fair deal.  I also made sure I purchase from a reputable seller (her user name is germ1123), and the whole process is very smooth sailing.

I got myself No 1 which is Nude Beige, and No 19 which is Frivolous Pink.

    Here are some pictures:

From left: No 4 Sweet Honey, No 1 Nude Beige, No 19 Frivolous Pink, No 7 Lingerie Pink

No 4 Sweet Honey shown below is more 'tan' than No 1 Nude Beige.

No 1 Nude Beige is a really pretty nude color, I think this will quickly become my FAVOURITE nude/ skin color lipstick.

No 7 Lingerie Pink is a peach toned pastel pink.

No 19 Frivolous Pink is more pink, but still very wearable depending on your skin tone.

Yup, hope this comparison is helpful. If you get the chance to swatch them in real life, you find that the color may look harsh and unflattering, which is what I thought months ago when I first tested them at the counter. However, on the lips, the color blend in nicely with your lips and look softer.  This could be due to the silky creamy texture of the product.

    The 10 minute makeup Tag

    HI!!

I must confess I can never do my makeup in ten minutes.  Reason being, I lurve dolling up.  I have been known to be super late for appointments because I spent too much time doing my makeup.  My sister and I have also spent so much time doing our makeup that we prolly spent more time doing makeup than being OUT.  I have also went out sans makeup because I had no time to do a proper one, and might as well just not do anything.

So.... on a normal day, let's say, I am going to work, nothing special, it would be one of those neutrals without lashes.   On a normal day, perhaps a weekend, just casual outing, I do a neutral with false lashes.  And on nights out, and when I feel like doing the full works then I break out all the smokeys, bright colors and lashes.

When I go to the market or run errands, the important thing I need to do for makeup is to even out skin tone, and dust on some cheek colors.

If I am running late esp for work (which doesn't happen - thank goodness), this is what I NEED to use, and what I can squeeze in ten mins.

I will moisturise my face.  Then throw on some primer/base for the SPF.. and then liquid foundation, and setting powder.  Then some cheek color, either a blusher or MSF.  I switch around my foundations... and blushers too.. but these happen to be what I grab for when I took this picture.   And concealer too, if I have a nasty zit to hide.

And with that, I end my very quick 10 min entry too.  :)

    July Faves (makeup products)

hmmmm -- I don't think this will be a regular feature but just whenever I feel like it.

**  There are also stuff which I accquired too much recently for me to justify it being part of this list....

This doesn't mean that I don't like my other stuff, but just that these 10 items are the current flavours of the month.

I bought so much during Color Craft, I feel bad to say that I haven't got to using much of Smooth Merge, Daft Pink and Style Demon yet.

But if I have to really narrow down to 10 items, and these are what I have come up with.   And it's all about the blushers!

    1. FADE OUT CREAM
    2. MAC 116 BRUSH
    3. MAC SMOKE & DIAMONDS EYESHADOW
    4. MAC IMPROVISE BLUSHER
    5. NARS MULTIPLE STICK ORGASM
    6. ILLAMASQUA PANIC BLUSHER
    7. MAC CREAM STICK PINK VIVID
    8. MAC CREME CUP LIPSTICK
    9. MUFE MAT VELVET+ 20
    10. MUFE SUPER MATTE LOOSE POWDER 02

    * Think I forgot Natural Flare eyeshadow from Color Craft....

I would like to feature nail polishes too, but I can tell you which colors I keep coming to.

    • CG agent lavender
    • CG secret periwinkle
    • OPI FOR SEPHORA metro chic

I will feature another 10 faves soon!  :)

I died and went to makeup heaven (almost)

    Location: Sephora, ION

Was innocently on my way to ZARA via the Wheelock Place underpass, and saw this strange unfamilar opening, that leads to ION.  And so, we have to go there, right?

After a few steps, this is what I saw:

This is a Spanish Label, and if you like Pull & Bear, this is funkier, and I think nicer, better, It is just COOL ok... it's all over the place when I went to Barcelona and in Paris, but so excited Bershka is finally coming to SG.

I was soooooo excited, I didn't even bother going in to TOPSHOP.....

Then I saw this cute signage:

I think this is COTTON ON, except they just sell the shoes.  Next, we have.....

A frikking stand alone shu uemura store! The last time I saw a free standing one was back in the days at Scotts.... when I was in secondary school.  Everything was so brand new in the store, none of the testers had been swatched.

Then another new exciting makeup brand KORRES!!!  Those on YT would have heard LisaSz09 and Lollipop26 talking about their liquid foundation.  I almost bought one ($65) but the staff wasn't very insipiring so I changed my mind.

Then..... what else.... I went one floor up.... to the ground floor.. and smack in my face, I saw the tell tale STRIPES.  Are you ready????

    WOOOO HOOOOO!

Please ignore the random ugly men standing around the front.  What the heck are they doing there anyway???

OK, Seriously.. The size of this store, is like... maybe Topshop and Forever 21 combined at Vivocity.  I am not kidding. YES, i think facebysarah mentioned there is a MAC counter there??  TRUE.  And it is located near the entrance.

They have SMASHBOX, TWO FACED, GIVENCHY, BURTS BEE etc etc  etc etc.... This is one Sephora which makes me feel like I am back in EU... for a moment.  It is so spacious...and of course, I had to haul to commemorate this special occasion.  But more store pictures, which I took covertly of course.

MUFE!! Please ignore random stranger in the picture.  This is what you get for taking sneaky pictures.

BE counters... which is near the SMASHBOX corner.

And for the uninitiated (ie those not in SG) this is what ION looks like.   Think it's the CARTIER grand opening, lotsa crowd.. but I steered far away to avoid being spotted by paparazzi

    (as if right?? LOL)

Yea...... so.... I just had to share this exciting event.  Ha ha.  And I didn't even expect to be here.

Now.. back to my original story... of how I died and went to makeup heaven -- SEPHORA.

Spent such a long time swatching, and walking and just basking in the general presence of so much beauty products.  My friend says I am sooo high, I think I even got her infected.  Yes, my excitement is THAT contagious, cos she bought some stuff too.  LOL.

But the staff are so NEH....... they are so new, and they don't know what the heck is going on, like don't know how to match foundation colors for my friend, I HAD TO DO THEIR JOB!!!  Grrrr... anyway.. I don't care.  Here is my (not so little) haul.

BURT'S BEES  Banana Hand Creme ($18)  HUGE TUB.  They have lotsa hand salve thingy, but the smell of this BLEW ME AWAY.  Imagine those banana milk, banana chewing gum you tried as a kid?  Imagine this as a rich hand cream.  DELISH!!!

We also have SEPHORA concealer palette ($25), which looks like a cheap cousin of the MUFE corrector palette (think it's $59).  I doubt this has the industrial strength of my BEN NYE palette, but I think my sister would like this product.

Then the GOOD STUFF --- MUFE. I bought their foundation again, this time the MAT VELVET+ in the lightest shade 20 ($68).  This is like concealer... thick foundation.  But I like the coverage.  And then we have the SUPER MATTE LOOSE POWDER I got this in the PINK SHADE 2($45), it comes with a powder puff, which I think is way cool cos I can pressed it into my face for a flawless finish. Will review these babies asap.  And it is a HUGE tube.. cos the tester is kind of small (like BE mineral veil size) but the actual product which I got is bigger (10g).  HAPPINESS.  I was kind of tempted by the illamasqua one.. but for now... this is a way more accessible product for me to purchase.  :)

*UPDATE: I forgot to give my two cents worth on SMASHBOX. I have their blusher and eyeshadow trio...and this photofinish primer which is rubbish IMO, and also a mattifying primer which is also RUBBISH.

But if you have to get something from SMASHBOX... get their eyeshadow trio in TWILIGHT - I have this, it's white frost, carbon matte black, and a frost silver trio.  SUPER PRETTY and great for sexy smokey eyes.

Pass on the foundations - you are better off with the MUFE ones, or the regular MAC ones.

Good to try the PRIMERS - cos they do get rave reviews.  I am just sore I don't like them.  The silica gel thingy is just wrong on my skin, I don't know.

And also their famous O-Glow thingy...

They have this LE eyeshadow trio thingy in a palette... and each retails for $65... the packaging is kind of like NARS.  The rubber black box.  Pretty.

PASS PASS don't get their liner cake stuff - they are too dry and don't work as cream liners at all.

All in all, now that I am home... I am recovering from my 'high'.... haha.. I will definitely go there again this SAT.

Oh and I got FAKE HAIR at Far East Plaza for $25, obivously it is synthetic hair.. it is like a hairclip with long wavy hair/ponytail which I can attach onto my own hair.... and Hey presto!  Instant luscious locks... so glam.  Ha ha.   Will show this in a future look of the day perhaps over the weekend.

Hope you are getting as excited as I am!  Thanks for reading!!!

Look of the Day: Purple again!

    Hi hi.

Did SOOO much this morning! Worked, talked, talked, talked, and had a dental appointment.  Ha ha.  Now my teeth are so clean, I am almost afraid to eat.

Nonetheless, I will be spending the rest of this day working.  And tmr I can play.  Woot!

On the eyes: MUFE purple liner as base, MUFE 92 purple eyeshadow, MAC Poison Pen to blend, and Vanilla for highlight.  It is BRIGHT, but subtle, cos I didn't spread the purple too high up my lids.

Brows: Mac Fling Brow pencil * LOVES!

Cheeks: Improvise blusher - I think somehow peachy cheeks look nice with purples.

    Lips: not wearing anything.

Face: Clinique foundation, BE Mineral Veil

Nails: Turquoise (Barry M), Do you Lilac It (OPI)

*Pardon the oiliness going on my face, I took this pic AFTER I came home, it had been a sweltering morning!

Random SEPHORA Update: I read in some mags that Sephora is going to open in ION this year?  Apparently it is going to be 5 times bigger than the Taka branch, and will stock Smashbox... Is it too much to hope that NARS, urban decay, FRESH, Cargo et al will follow suit???? Can my made in US & Paris beauty insider cards be used here?? LOL

That's all, and thanks for reading!

    INs and OUTs (June 09)

No pictures, but will just ramble about stuff I have been using lately.

    INs

    1. MAC studio sculpt foundation (NC15) - You just need the tiniest amount of this product for a full coverage.  On the other hand, the Clinique Superfit, you need to use MORE if you want a fuller coverage.
    2. ACNES zit cream - zaps breakouts real quick.
    3. MAC Azalea brush - Da bomb as far as blushers are concerned.
    4. MAC Pink Vivid Cream stick - awesome payoff and color, love love this on my cheeks.
    5. MAC 168 brush - loving this brush all over again, I neglected it for a long time and dabbled with the 109 and the CS fan brush when apply blusher.
    6. Maybelline highlight & concealer thingy - the concealer on this 'wand' is really great, and comparable to the MAC studio finish concealer. And it is cheap!  :)
    7. Yea to all my random hairclips, have been using them all the time cos my bangs are at a really awkward length now.
    8. Yea to all my Keith Harring LE Uniqlo tees I bought in Harajuku, Tokyo
    9. Yea to my Lady Gaga album which bf downloaded for me.. haha... Yup, I know.. even my 15 year old brother is saying YOU CALL THAT MUSIC??  He is a music snob...but I am all for great entertainers, and she is one to me.
    10. Unearthing a bunch of brand new makeup in my drawer, including a smokey eye palette with 10 eyeshadows, 5 or 6 backups of Loreal Superliner, a bunch of Shu Uemura eyeshadows, Benefit blusher and also my Shu Uemura palette
    11. AWESOME 'cheng teng' (a chinese dessert) at Bedok 'corner' food-centre...
    12. Last one -- LUSH Yummy Yummy Yummy makes me want to take a shower all the time~

    OUTs

    1. Boo to the constant checking, stalking I have been doing lately when it comes to MAC releases, I thought I was over that 'stage' since the start of the year, but am I going through a relaspse???  Geesh.  Or I just never stopped?
    2. Crazy busy work week which is simply not sustainable.
    3. Neglecting my blushers.... I have been wanting to use some colors which have not seen the light of day, such as MAC Dirty Plum, Pleasantry, Naunce, PeachyKeen etc etc...
    4. The Color Craft Collection, I have half intrigued and half 'hating' it.  And the fact that it is late is driving me insane cos the ONLY item I wanted is still not here yet!
    5. Late nights
    6. Short weekends
    7. Eating lousy food

Pictures don't do these justice. (and MAC Colour Craft Updates)

Remember Beauty+Life's MUFE at Sephora alert?   Today my sister and I were roaming around sephora after a day's work (for me, a course) and we were about to walk out of Sephora when I saw MUFE!  We had such a lovely time talking to the MUFE MUA (read: she is not the sales-staff, just attached to the brand as a MUA)  and she was amazing, and it is truly one of the best experience to be talking to a professional about makeup products.  And the amazing irony is that while I was at course today, I was thinking of paying the MUFE store at Stamford House (was in the area) and checking out the products again...but I didn't get to going there eventually.  Perhaps everything is a blessing in disguise.

Ok, cut to the chase. I bought the infamous No.92 eyeshadow, and an Aqua Eyes Liner in No. 19.  Honestly, my camera just didn't pick up the purple tones of the products and they end up looking blue and black.  But No. 92 is a true bright purple.  All the MUFE eyeshadows are super pigmented!!!  And lovely MUA was showing me how to layer their glitters over the eyeshadows, man, they look really dazzling and if I didn't act rationally, I would have bought a bunch of the pigments.

Feeling playful with the eyeliner, and I swatched a heart shape with it.  Cute!  Deep purple metallic in finish.  Very creamy and pigmented.  And the eyeshadow, is pretty intense on its own but over a primer it is the bomb!

** Hastily applied the eyeshadow and blended out the edges.  And hastily drawn on the eyeliner too.

Ok, if you are not intrigued by No 92 yet, check out WSITN's recent haul video which featured the purple eyeshadow (click here)

Or, you can check out makeupbyRenRen's kick-ass dramatic purple eyeshadow in this video

    CONFESSION:

At this point, I might want to add that No 92 is part of a growing list of products in my stash which I got because of the hype/mystery/fascination built up by people I have heard and seen using and raving about. The rest include:

    • MAC Parrot eyeshadow
    • MAC Petticoat MSF
    • MAC Club eyeshadow
    • MUFE HD Finishing powder
    • Barry M 129 lip-paint
    • MAC Peppermint Patti
    • China Glaze For Audrey
    • ** and several more items which I can't recall for now.

Am I the only guilty of being hyped up one here?

OK, I did promise some MAC updates as mentioned in the title of this entry, and if you want to know more MAC updates, check out my previous posts HERE and Beauty+Life's latest blog entry.  This is regarding the MAC Colourcaft collection.

*** STYLE MAG (July) featured the Colourcraft collection in their pages, and you can't see the products clearly but the spread alone is droolsome enough.  As usual, they get the names of everything wrong!  But just names alone, I am definitely getting Daft Pink, and one of the eyeshadow quad with the black, blue, white etc.

Supposedly the collection comes out this Friday, and since I am still on course in the town area, it's so easy for me to check out the collection in person.  I think I will mostly like just get one Mineralised Blush, and one MSF from this collection.  The eyeshadows are cute, but most likely I will not use them, so I will give them a miss.

    P/S updates:

Fresh Cut palette is a really quick and easy to use everyday palette.  I used it today, and I really like the coral shades in that palette!

I rubbed my finger over the eyeliner swatch, and guess what, it stayed put!!  No smudges!

    Look mom, no smudges!!

MUFE Aqua Eyes liner retails for S$32, and the eyeshadow retails for S$35 while the 'diamond' range with shimmer (really PRETTY) retails for S$39.

Other items worth checking out if you are new to this brand:  the full coverage concealer, the concealer corrector palette, the whole HD range, the loose eyeshadows, and the Aqua Liners.  Oh, EVERYTHING basically.

That's all, and thanks for reading!

    My MAC lemming

    Hi hi!

So I was browsing Temptalia this morning, and she has all these information on upcoming MAC collections, and I decide to make a ridiculous wish list (a girl can just WISH, right??).  This is just purely based on product names and descriptions, I have yet to check out any pictures though.  There is going to be black lipsticks, blue, and oh, kind of exciting, yea, I know, WHO IS GOING TO WEAR BLACK LIPSTICKS?  But there is a collection of black glosses... and that could be a lot more wearable.

For a rundown of all the collections on temptalia do click on the following links to Temptalia's blog:

MAC HD Collection Coming Oct 2009 Intl  ** skipping this, nothing spectacular

MAC Flirt with Fall Collection Coming Sept 2009 Intl ** skipping this, basically a false lash collection

MAC Fall Trend Collection Coming Oct 2009 Intl

    Feline Glossy black (Repromote)

    Sculpt and Shape Powder Duos

Bone Beige/ Emphasize Palest cream / Tan
Accentuate/Sculpt Pale blushed beige / Soft taupey brown   *** I own this, and it's one of my faves, but I seldom use it cos the powder cracked.  Boo.

MAC Style Black Collection (All Black) Coming Oct 2009 Intl

** Most excited by this collection, so saving the best for last.

    I am lemming:

    Glimmergloss

    Blackware Creamy true black

    Blackware Creamy true black

    Mineralise Eyeshadow

Gilt by Association Black with gold bronze pearl

    Nail Lacquer

Baby Goth Girl Black with pink and purple pearl (Frost)  *** Don't you just love the name??

On a more sensible note though, I realised I don't just buy for the sake of buying lately....the previous few collections haven't made me go crazy (except for Sugarsweet), and I just buy one item from each collection (eg Grand Duos, Style Warriors etc and I did't even get anything from Rose Romance).

Gotta start saving big time for these collections.  Gosh.  I am such a sucker.

So, go over, check out temptalia, and tell me what's on your wishlist!!

    I tag you: Beauty Q & A!

What's your favourite make up look?

Mine would have to be a neutral eye which I can build up to a smokey look, I always forget to put on my lipstick!!! And cheeks lately I have been liking NARS Sin. I have been really into browns lately, and it is all I seem to use.  The times I do a black/ grey smokey eye are usually for nights out, and even then it's usually black with a pop of color like purple or teal.  I tend to steer away from reddish purples (had to give away Trax e/s to my sister because someone commented I had a bruise on my eye or smth, and since then I stay away from Trax).

Do you have a beauty vice?

I think I own too many lipsticks even though lips are often the most neglected part of my MU routine.  And I think I don't cleanse thoroughly enough before I sleep, in terms of make up.

What part of your body do you love?

Hard question! But I like my hands.

    Who is your beauty icon?

I don't have a beauty icon, but I do like hollywood classic icons, such as Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, etc because they just exude glamour, and they always have a signature look, such as bold brows, red lips, etc...

What beauty product makes you feel instantly sexy?

Eyelashes!  And perhaps a kick ass gloss.

How do you look after your skin?

I must remove my makeup before I sleep, use my pore minimising products and always wear sunscreen products when I go out in the day.

    What is your signature scent?

I rotate my perfumes (4 or 5 of them on a regular basis) but I like Chanel's ALLURE and Lanvin's arpege eclat (can never spell it right).

What are your hair care secrets?

My hair is naturally limp and kind of wavy/straight (?!) when it is left to its own devices.  Ha ha.  So a year ago I 'soft rebonded' my hair, so it looks stronger, and less limp.  I also color it a solid black so it looks fuller. I don't ever need to go back to touch up the roots for my rebonding because they aren't frizzy or anything, but I can now just straighten by using my GHD iron.  Oh, and always use a leave in conditioner like Phyto-9 esp if you have long hair, at the ends.  And also use a heat protectant when styling your hair.  And I never comb my hair unless I absolutely HAVE TO.  Yup, I never comb my hair.  LOL.

    How do you pamper yourself?

I don't do facials, or spa (except when I am on beach vacay).  But I do like to go for manicures, pedicures.  A couple of the nail salons at Holland Village are my regulars and for a nice relaxing one I go to the one at Wheelock Place (@ Snails) - only been there for my nails twice though.

What is your beauty pet peeve?

Unkempt brows, wrong shade of foundation, too fake false lashes - I know this sounds weird coming from me, but I can't stand the look of shiny, plasticky lashes (often those criss cross in design and way too full) worn by girls who wear way too little make up to justify the whole look.  The whole thing is just wrong.

What would your desert island must haves be?

I won't want makeup, prolly loads of sunscreen, a large umbrella, cute tiny little bikini, and a frozen strawberry margarita!

Finally, do you have a beauty philosophy?

    Makeup can do wonders!!

I tag the following lovelies & everyone else would like to do this:

A few quick reviews: Clinique, MAC Studio Sculpt and LUSH (Super long but FUN post)

Hi!  How's your weekend been so far?

This is going to be several quick reviews of new products I have been using, and LOVING this week.

Right now as I am rambling, I am in the middle of a DIY hair color, and I am using this:

Most of you would know that I colour my hair jet black, and I DIY most of the times because it is just black (what can go wrong) and my hair is kind of fine, so it is easy to manage and comb through the product, and somehow I find the color stays on better when I DIY.

Ok, first thing I want to talk about are my Clinique pore minimising products:

Clinique Pore Minimising Serum (S$51) and Pore Minimising Mask (S$49 - but I got mine free with $200 purchase)

I used the Serum after moisturiser, applying it with my fingers and focusing on areas with enlarged pores esp around the cheeks and nose.  It absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving a smooth and non-greasy finish.  My skin looks like it is dusted with a fine layer of translucent powder.  The texture of the product itself is pretty runny, and you really just need a little bit and dab quickly onto your skin.  I use this at night, and the next morning when I wake up, my face is still rather oil free (I used to wake up with oily face--eekk), so I really like that. After two days of using it, I noticed my pores do look a little smaller.  But that could be because I am using the mask which I am going to talk about next.

***  My face 5 minutes after waking up this morning.  Relatively oil free. Happy!

    Clinique Pore Minimising Mask:

This is a white clay mask, you are supposed to use it once a week.  But I have been using it daily, again, concentrating it around my problem areas.  The mask quickly dries, and you can feel a tightening effect as it dries.  I rinsed off the mask with warm water.  Again, looking at my face now, I can see a slight difference.  This is after 3 days of using it.  It might be too early to tell, but I think that we might have found an effective pore minimising product in Clinique's range.  I strongly recommend using it with the serum.

To sum up, I would say GO GET THEM if you have a problem with enlarged pores on your face.  Thumbs up to Clinique!   I am also now rather intrigued to try out the rest of their skin care after this experience.

I also have been using their Superfit liquid foundation, and the first time I used it, I forgot to set  my face with the usual powder, and it looks perfectly fine! No oiliness, and no oily shine.  Just nice skin.  And the color which I was matched with, suits me nicely.  It is also rather runny, but you don't need to use a lot.  The only gripe I have is that it is a rather small bottle.   GET IT if you would like a oil free foundation that is kind and gentle on your face.

Next, I am going to rave about LUSH goodies. I have been using the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower smoothie.  I poured a little into my shower lily, and it foams up really well, and filled the entire bathroom with the bubblegum/strawberry scent.  It also leaves your skin feeling clean and not greasy like how some shower foam can be.  I alternate this with the 'Honey I washed the kids' solid soap which is another great smelling product.  I would not say these products are really cheap, but for the smell, and the fun in using them, it is totally worth the price tag (each item probably costs $20 and the soap about $12).

I am also using the LUSH strawberry solid body lotion. This is a fun thing to use.  You hold the bar in your hand, and it melts, so then you rub the 'melted thingy' all over your body.  This smell is especially complimentary to the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower smoothie, and I believe, the Rockstar solid soap too.

My verdict on LUSH: Pricey, but not super high end like Jo Malone, or Molten Brown etc.  Super FUN and smells fantabulous.  I say bring LUSH back to Singapore! Imagine all the fun and options you have when thinking of gift ideas (Come on, Crabtree & Evelyn and Body Shop can get kind of stale after all these years).

Now, as you know I am super excited to try out the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation which will only be coming to Singapore this Sept apparently.  I am using the color NC15 which is the lightest shade.  Many people have said how this has a gel consistency, and yes, when I tried it out last night, I know what is meant finally.  It is not liquid, not cream, but a light moussey kind of cream. Very interesting, and again, you need just a tiny ball of product.  I applied this with my fingers and find that it is the easiest to blend. It also has a very nice coffee/butterscotch scent, I don't know if it is just me, because MAC foundations don't usually have a smell, and I only broke the seal of my studio sculpt for the first time last night.

In terms of coverage, I would say this gives medium to full coverage BUT you don't feel like you have a layer of foundation like how Studio Fix Fluid can sometimes feel.  In terms of blending, I would say use your fingers (and well, I haven't tried it with brushes yet).   So here is a quick Look of the Night featuring a quick appearance with my sister again.

My final verdict:  GOOD TO TRY!

*On the lips, St Germaine Lipstick.  Forgot I had this color, and had to rock it!  On the lips, All that Glitters and Omega eyeshadows.  And Cheeks, Pink Vivid as base and Perfect Topping Msf.

My face after 3 hours.  No blotting.  I have oily T zone, so there is some shine.  But overall, I am quite happy with Studio Sculpt Foundation!

Ok, I am done, and my hair is done, got to go wash it now.  Thank you all for taking the time to read through everything, and hope this has been helpful.  Drop me a comment (or two) if you have any questions.
