My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks. I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks. I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare. I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11. Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80. I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry. I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to. I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item. I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all. The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Chanel Cravings: Fall 2011 Makeup Collection

So I was innocently browsing the web after my jog this evening, and I popped over to one of my fave makeup sites, Cafe Makeup, and guess what, I came across these sneak peeks of the upcoming Chanel Fall collection. And we are barely done with the summer collection! Gosh. This whole collection is just gorgeous!

Let's make a list of the items I know I definitely would be getting:

Les 4 Ombres in Prélude

[this looks similar to Mystic, so I have to check it out in person before I decide for sure]

Six shades of a whipped gel eyeshadow, Illusion D’Ombre, which have a shimmery effect:

again, I want to swatch them in person, in case they turn out like the MAC big bounce eyeshadows.

But the colors I am lemming for are

Illusion d’Ombre in Epatant [olive goldish color]

Illusion d’Ombre in Illusoire [taupe mauve color]

Illusion d’Ombre in Fantasme [shimmery white]

And the 3 nail polishes are my definite must haves:

but I don't think she does any credit to the colors...there is only one picture, and not a super clear one at that.

Chanel Cravings: Fall 2011 Makeup Collection

Let's make a list of the items I know I definitely would be getting:

Les 4 Ombres in Prélude

My 2010 Fall Makeup Wishlist!

Yup, as if I need more makeup, and yea, as if we have 'fall' season here in sunny Singapore. But I shall go ahead and lem away.

Honestly, the upcoming MAC collections aren't very inspiring to me, nothing from their Fabulous Felines & Villainous Villains is calling out to me. If I have to choose my fave MAC collection this year, it would be the In the Groove collection. :) Other than that, I feel like branching out to other makeup houses, just to check out what's out there.

So on this rather blah Monday morning, I shall put out a little list of makeup items which I would eventually, or want to get. We have NARS, we have Chanel, and we have Urban Decay. Good stuff!!

Here goes:

1. Urban Decay NAKED Palette - everyone has this, and it's great value, so I must have it too.

2. Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Perles in Mythic (?) I think. Ever since I saw Temptalia's review of this product a couple of weeks back, I think I want to add this to my stash. Everything about this classic powder is just so pretty and classy.

3. NARS Eyeshadow duos in Rajasthan and Tzarina. Fa-bu-lous. They are on my mind forever, since I saw the promo images.

4. Chanel Nail Polishes. I did an entry on this a couple of weeks back, and I think they will be out this week. My must have is Khaki Vert, and maybe Khaki Rose too.

That's all. Just 4 or 5 items....not too greedy, ya? Haha. If I can get all these items in the next week or so, I would be very very very happy! (Happier than usual). :p

I am also happy that this is a relatively short week, and I will be doing lotsa shopping, watch a couple of performances and so on!

Oktober fest is coming soon, what's everyone's plans? I don't know if I will be at sentosa or swiss club this year. Lotsa feasting and boozzzzing. Heheh.

P/S: I am still facing onsugar glitches, whenever I click on someone's blog entry, I would be in another user's profile, and whenever possible, I refrain from commenting on blog entries when I am not in my profile and just log out etc etc.. this is very very annoying, I have taken to commenting via twitter instead, which is kind of lame... but urgh... Why why why??? So if I have been 'quiet' you know why.

Very Unhealthy Lemming (MU wishlist)

Hi hi!

Because we are back at work, I can't ramble as often, but I just want to put out a very lusty lemming list to get me through the tough weeks ahead (esp in the next 2 weeks!).

My worst (and I mean that in a positive way) MU enablers would have to be the pixiwoo sisters, wayne goss, lollipop26 and Lorraine (the current custom). Most products they buy, or show/ review in their videos, I am always suckered into buying.

Louise Young Large Foundation Brush

The pixiwoo sisters raved about this brush all the time and recently I came across "lisalisaD1" or something like that, she also raved about it. I am sure this is a quality brush for foundation, but just that it is a little inaccessible to purchase. I think it retails for 22pounds.

YSL Rouge Pure Shine Sheer Lipstick

Haven't seen this in person yet, but the packaging is to die for. And the shades too. Maybe if I pop by the DFS YSL counter, I may pay this beauty a visit.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque Update: DONE - but final color will be revealed in the haul enty!!

Gorgeous packaging, amazing texture, glossy, but pigmented like a lipstick. You have it all in this product. And it is Chanel!

The shades I am eyeing are Santal (peachy pink nude), Dragon (fiery red) and Ming (pink nude) in order of preference. Highly raved on temptalia, and also Lollipop26.

MAC Nail Lacquer from the Love Lace Collection - I have a feeling I already have dupes for this color, such as Bare it in Trafaglar Square but I can never have enough of this type of color.

MAC "Personal Style" beauty powder blush - From the All Ages, All Races, All Sexes collection

A pretty, nude looking blusher.. something which is unique in my blush collection. I blame Sara (icyabtract) for this lemming, she twittered about it, and I went to check out the blog entry in which this girl was showing her blusher.... and since then... it's been nagging in my mind. Not just this product, but this type of color in general. Something nude, beige... for cheeks. *Swooon*....

My MAC lemming

So I was browsing Temptalia this morning, and she has all these information on upcoming MAC collections, and I decide to make a ridiculous wish list (a girl can just WISH, right??). This is just purely based on product names and descriptions, I have yet to check out any pictures though. There is going to be black lipsticks, blue, and oh, kind of exciting, yea, I know, WHO IS GOING TO WEAR BLACK LIPSTICKS? But there is a collection of black glosses... and that could be a lot more wearable.

On a more sensible note though, I realised I don't just buy for the sake of buying lately....the previous few collections haven't made me go crazy (except for Sugarsweet), and I just buy one item from each collection (eg Grand Duos, Style Warriors etc and I did't even get anything from Rose Romance).

Gotta start saving big time for these collections. Gosh. I am such a sucker.
