About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog 5 years ago to share my love for makeup, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly, and about 1.5 million as of Nov 2011.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Final Disclaimer

I bought/ paid for all of the products mentioned in this blog. I am not affliated to any company. Says Hi to CHANEL

Oh, no.. I didn't spend $4k on a 2.55 Chanel 2.55 bag.  LOL.  That would be the day!!  When I am retired, and when $4k is peanuts to me.

I went out on a frivolous purchase, and got  Les Trompe-L'ceil De Chanel  -- oh whatever, it's just temporary tattoos!

I don't think I would actually get real tatts (but if the timing is right, and if there is a design I can be in love with forever) then I might actually consider having one.

Anyway... these temporary skin art can be purchased at the Chanel store, or at Paragon and Taka Chanel cosmetics counter.  The staff will show you what you are paying for, 5 sheets of designs.... a total of 55 pieces of patterns which you can combine together to create your own 'necklaces', 'bracelets' etc etc.... you can check out videos of the Chanel runway S/S2010 where the models were rocking it on their legs etc.  The pixiwoo sisters did a little demonstration of how to put them on too.

Since these stuff aren't very suitable work-wise for me... I tried on a very modest design, very subtle... but kind of cute.  I could prolly ask my very artistic sister to draw on the same design with her 921891238902 markers.. but well...These are just for fun ok?  :p

    3/19/10

mya - I am almost afraid to mention the price. but they retail for $105 for the whole set.
I like how they are all individual separate pieces, and you can mix and match. Sticking out tongue

littlefrozengirl - yes I like how 3D they look... super pretty!
kas - yea, I like how intricate the designs are, the birds and the twigs/ flower thingy

kim - yea, i will use them sparingly though if i follow the design used on the runway models I think one set is not even enough. LOL nice to collect... and when you feel like it, just throw in a 'necklace' here and there for effect. the MUA told me each location carries 100 pcs in stock... when i was at the store, a few other pple were buying too. they just came out today. go grab if you are interested!

Even the plastic bag is gorgeous!

I've been lemming for them ever since they were introduced! But $105....are the designs re-usable?

    3/20/10

AtelierGal - I don't think temporary tatts are reusuable. After a few days they sort of become less clear, and you can scrub them off, or rub off with alcohol based solution.

Pretty and I love it! No way I would pay that much for it unfortunately!
