Product Rave: Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Foundation

Warning:  This post may cause some serious lemming or impulsive behaviour to buy the product featured.  I am not responsible for making anyone succumb to temptations in their search to create the flawless, matte and long lasting foundations.   :p  I am also not affliated with the company, and bought this product with my own moolah.

A couple of days ago, I  bought the Estee Lauder Stay In Place Liquid Foundation.  This retails for S$53, and contains 30ml of product.  Apparently there is also a 'light' version of this foundation.  But I didn't know, as I am pretty new to Estee Lauder products.

From the website, here is the product description:

'Best of Beauty - Foundation'
Allure Magazine, October 2008

15-hour staying power. Flawless all day.

This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity.

Won't change color, smudge or come off on clothes.

Feels lightweight and comfortable.

Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

  • Oil-free
  • Dermatologist-tested
  • Non-acnegenic
  • Fragrance-free

I shall comment on the following areas for this product:

15-hour staying power. Flawless all day.

* TRUE.  Yesterday I did not remove my  makeup til 9pm.  Usually my face would be pretty worn off by then but yesterday I can still see the foundation on my face.

This worry-free, long-wearing makeup stays fresh and looks natural through heat, humidity, nonstop activity.

* TRUE.  Because I work in a very humid/ hot and sweaty environment.  I sweat buckets when I am in class.  So for this foundation to last through the work day, I am truly impressed.

Won't change color, smudge or come off on clothes.

* TRUE.  I have worries about this foundation oxidising, but surprisingly it didn't and the color remained the same.  Except for my nose which will become oily after a couple of hours no matter what, the rest of the face LOOK THE SAME as when I put on my makeup early in the morning.  So I just need to blot my T zone.

Feels lightweight and comfortable.

* TRUE.  I don't feel any cakey feeling, and yet the coverage is what I need.  Let's put it this way, in the following pictures, I didn't even use any concealer at all.  That's how much coverage this foundation provides.

Now the flawless look you see in the morning is the look you keep all day.

This is my face at 2pm, after I put on my makeup at 6.30am in the morning. To be honest, the texture looks better in real life.   I know this is only the 2nd day of using it, but I am loving loving loving this foundation!  It does deliver its claim to be long lasting!

Pictures taken at 2pm.  I did my makeup at 6.30am this morning.

Updates:  This is another picture taken at 5.45pm.  I had gone out for an outing with my kids, where it was really hot and sweaty and I had to walk all over the place... and I had to blot my T zone twice.

Picture taken at 5.45pm.  That's almost 12 hours of wear.

I might want to do a picture demo of how I use this foundation soon.. maybe over the festive weekend.... but in short, I just use my Essence of Beauty foundation brush (paddle shape brush).

Hope you find this rave helpful! Thanks for reading!

I'm not even going to resist. I AM going to get this within the week. I believe I'm the approximately the same shade as you not that I've tanned a bit, and that's 1W1 Bone, right? How is this colour compared to the MUFE Mat Velvet + in Ivory (I think you have that too)? Thanks for the review and sorry for all the questions!

Wow. Sure does it's tempting me right now. Is this a HG product already?

posted by

Babe, did u use any primer / base prior to this?
If yes, is it the Angelfit PoreZero?

Dyan- I used rmk base.... :)

if i hadnt already gotten my HG foundation(panstick from MUFE), id be cursing u right about now for being such a temptress!!!

but its ok la. i still ♥ u :D

Think i'm gonna be "buying as you speak" tmr man. I AM SO TEMPTED! But wanna ask something, i read reviews the LF is hard to remove. Do you have any problem with removing?

Pinogal- I use either my fancl or neutrogena remover and those work fine for me ~

posted by

Sorry if I'm spamming by asking again, but how do you find the colour as opposed to MUFE's Mat Velvet + in Ivory (which is the colour I think you have)?

posted by

I ♥ this foundation too!

Anonymous Bosch - hey hey... cos I was outside this evening (by now my MU is more than 15 hours!) anyway,I didn't want to respond because I wanted to be sure about my MUFE mat velvet+ shade, and now I am home, I can confirm that my MUFE mat velvet+ shade is 20 (not sure the name), and my Estee is 1W1 Bone 17 which is a light warm tone color.
Both blends into my skin tone, I would say Mat Velvet+ disappears into my own skin color, while the Estee is a wee bit lighter and brighter in tone - nothing noticeable except to yourself.
I hope this answers your question?

misschillipadi - Yeah!! High five!!

Sarah - phew! :)

Makeupgeeek - it is on its way to HG status!!

Oh, sorry! I thought you missed my question. Really sorry for spamming. Bone sounds absolutely perfect then! The MUFE foundation was a tad dark and pink on me. Thanks so much for answering so comprehensively! :D

Lolx... Now.. you all really make me wanna jump into liquid foundation!!!!!!

posted by

OOps.. I means... Jump into using liquid foundation band wagon! lolx

my sister uses this foundation too! i think i will start using hers now... hahaha. you don't even look like u put on any makeup in the pictures! totally natural and flawless.

Arghh~ This foundation sounds absolutely perfect! It looks great on you even after so many hours of wear and all that. So many foundation reviews of late but only one face to paint, what to do~ haha. Though comparing this to the Dior one you own, which do you prefer?

Chantana: Oh, lol!

Sara - the Estee definitely wins hands down in terms of long wearing factor. The Dior is slightly more ex, but the finish is so flawless.... and oh well. For now, I am all about this latest addition to my foundation stash. :p

posted by

I see. Cause from all your foundation ravings, for some reason the Dior one is stuck in my mind and I keep telling myself I'll have to get it one of these days. Guess I'm adding this to the list as well!

Amazing! How do u compare it to shu uemura face architect? Oh and i forgot to read ur warning. I eant to try this estee lauder foundation now!!!

posted by

look g reat!

icefrost - I think the Estee has a matte finish compared to the Shu Uemura, and even without setting the foundation with powder, it is already matte. That's what impressed me the most, besides its longevity.

It is funny how everyone is asking me to compare this Estee to all my other foundations! :)

liana - Thanks!!

Thanks retail_therapy! I have a shu uemura foundation and I need to get a new one as I have grown fairer. Maybe I shall try estee lauder this time. Thanks again :D

Amazing! You still look great after almost 12 hours of wear. ;)

you never seem to have any pimples!!!! haha :) anyway, between the chanel mat lumiere and estee, which would you prefer in terms of finish?

About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

Twitter (link button above!)  Email (stated above!)  Instagram (makeup_blogette)

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.
