About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog 5 years ago to share my love for makeup, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly, and about 1.5 million as of Nov 2011.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Product Feature: Cosme Decorte AQ Makeup

Hi hi, this entry will feature some of the Cosme Decorte AQ Makeup which I had the chance to play with yesterday.  I also chose some of the products which I like to try out, as I have never tried any products from this makeup house til yesterday. If you are interested in any of the products mentioned here, please request for reviews, and I will do so in separate entries.

CLICK HERE to check out makeup session with Clarence Lee.

Cosme Decorte is a prestige brand under KOSE.  This range of makeup "possesses a high-quality, deep and delicate sparkle."  It contains the "Gold Colloid Powder" --- a first in makeup.  The gold particles are extremely fine, and gives the products genuine sparkle, and a texture as if covered with a veil or aura of purple, which leads to a distinguished and unique nuance on the facial expression.

It is not just makeup that you are putting on your face when it comes to Cosme Decorte  This is because fine moisturising and emollient ingredients are contained in every product --- and this I experienced myself when I used their makeup removing cream and skincare lotion yesterday at the makeup session. The texture of their products are very rich and creamy, and I believe a little goes a long way, and probably very suitable for mature skin.

As the products are so emollient, they address the visible signs of ageing (and this I need, having joined the 30s club last year!!), reduces the look of unnecessary dark shadows and produces a sparkling dignified aura. This range of products also focus on bringing out the natural contours of the face to add light and radiance, and to bring about a "casual notion of luxury".

The Cream Foundation Supreme comes in 7 shades. It promises to give refining glow, and is filled with rich moisture.

Next, we have the Modeling Nuancer, which smoothes the appearance on pores and uneven skin tone with its ultrafine texture and soft focus efficacy.  I used this and the contour shade during the makeup session yesterday, and really like the tones of the 2 creams, they are not shimmery, and the contour shade is a cool ashy brown which is fab for contouring the sides of the face.  And they are really buildable too.  This product really stood out to me.

Next, is the Rouge Supreme, you can see the gold particles in the close up picture!  This comes in 15 shades, and contains ‘Concealing Powder’, to hide longitude wrinkles and dark parts of the lips with a fine finish.

Together with the lipstick, Clarence also used this lip treatment in his demonstration yesterday.  One tip: apply lip treatment at the start of your makeup routine.  This gives the product more time to work on your lips, making them soft and ready to apply color.  Just dab off the lip treatment lightly, so your lipstick can go on smoothly.  If you slap on the lip treatment just before lipstick, then your lipstick will slip and slide, and that's not flattering at all.

The lip glosser acts like a Lip Primer to maximise the colour of your lipstick or lip gloss.

Lastly, we have the eyeshadow palette, which contains 4 colors which you can use to complete your eye makeup look. There is a combination of matte and shimmery shades, which I like, because I don't like to go all out shimmery on my eyes. Glides onto eyelids effortlessly with a supple fit due to emollient oils contained in the eyeshadow powder. There are altogether 9 shades.

The prices of Cosme Decorte AQ makeup are as follow:

    • Cream Foundation Supreme SPF PA20++ S$183
    • Modeling Nuancer S$68
    • Shadow Supreme S$89
    • Face Colour N (blush) S$96
    • Rouge Supreme S$85

Yes, these are pretty high end products in terms of price point, but do take into account of the luxe ingredients and supreme quality of the brand, and I am fairly sure this brand will appeal to those are looking for fine quality makeup items, and seeking to create a youthful and flawless makeup. For slightly jaded makeup junkies like me, I am very intrigued and interested to try out fine quality products which are not run of the mill. Also, I realise that other than Shu Uemura and the odd RMK and Maquillage product in my stash, I have not really ventured that much into Japanese makeup, and thus I look forward to trying out this luxe brand~

Again, if you have any questions, or comments. specific reviews/ looks using Cosme Decorte AQ makeup, do let me know, otherwise, keep a lookout for follow-up feedback if they appear in my monthly faves or LOTD entries.  Should I do my half-face experiment with the Cream Foundation, and also do a foundation review/ round up etc??

That's all, and I hope this has been helpful to you, or anyone in the market for buying some really classy and womanly makeup!

cosme decorte AQ makeup are given to me for consideration.  All opinons are my own honest ones.

My mother's quite the fan of this brand, though strangely enough this brand's cheaper in Singapore than even Japan. I can't wait to read more about the products you've received in your subsequent entries!

Please do a review on the cream foundation. I am a fan of Cle De Peau, so I guess this brand is it's competitor. I am really interested to know.
