About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.

Where to find me

I have no official Facebook fan page, and currently have no intention to start one at all.  The Makeup Blogette remains my personal hobby and property, so as such, I don't believe in having a Facebook fanpage for it.

Final Disclaimer

I bought/ paid for all of the products mentioned in this blog. I am not affliated to any company. If certain products are sent to me for review purposes, I will say so and express my honest opinions about them. In any case, I will only review and showcase the products which I have personally tried and tested, and enjoy using. I do not get paid to review anything.

    Inside the Travel Makeup Bag

What I will be bringing along for my little trip - which is way too much - and I am buying more over there.  But...we need our makeup.  Note that I am not bring much base products, as those will be the bulk of my purchases.  So I brought a bunch of lip products instead.

    Let's make a list!

    FACE:

MUFE All MatLancome Maqui Miracle, Sonia Kasuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette, Clarins Instant Line Correcting Concentrate, Clarins Instant Light brush on perfector, Guerlain Blush G, UD Cream Highlight Moonshine, Shiseido Perfect Refining Foundation (it's small, won't break nor spill)

I am not bringing any of my tube concealers, cos I don't want them to be oozing all over my bag due to the air pressure on the flight. So the concealer palette would be my best choice for bringing about, and concealing whatever I need.

    EYES:

Smashbox Masquerade Palette, Loreal Superliner, NARS Primer, Benefit Brow Set, Brow Pencil (it has a pencil and a marker end), Lash Glue, Lashes, Clinique Lower Lash Mascara

    LIPS:

Lancome Absolute Rouge 180, Illamasqua Sangers & Succubus, Illamasqua Sonnet, Clarins Hydra Nude 02, Shiseido Shimmering Rouge, MUFE mini gloss, Maquilage PK715

So that I can have any lip color I feel like wearing.  Some shades are great to touch up with, while some are great to double up as lip balm.

    BRUSHES:

Eye Brushes (liner, blending, lid color etc), face fan brush, blush brush, brow spoolie brush, concealer brush

It's only 4 days, and I don't want to bring too many brushes along.  Just make do with whatever there is.

Just bring all these samples which I have, and which are almost everything I am using in my routine currently.  I have to bring along my actual sizes eye cream stuff though.  Or I can use my gf's eye products...hmmmm.

I think that's all.... and I can hardly wait.  *super holiday mood*

    thanks for looking!

Wow! You're really organised! If it was me, I would try to minimise my products, but end up lugging a whole bag of unnecessary items!

I love seeing what other people travel with - it's so interesting to see how differently we consider different products, and what we think we can get away with or without for a few days! Hope you have a great trip and bring home lots of loot! Laughing out loud

Have a great trip! I love looking at travel makeup bags (and reading travel reports for that matter haha) and it's interesting what things different people choose to take! I take hardly any makeup along and no eyeshadow at all and would rather throw in more clothes on long trips than face/body stuff, because after awhile it gets pretty tiring wearing the same items!
