Clarins Neo Pastels Spring Makeup Collection (SS/2011)

This February, Clarins will launch the Neo Pastels for their Spring makeup collection.

It is time to say goodbye to the dreary cold dull rainy weather, and welcome the spring season with subtle pastels, half-tones for a romantic makeup look.  Soft light pastels that glow, and rekindles desire and emotion.  (Refer to my Valentine Day LOTD with romantic fresh pinks)

This spring, the Clarins woman has a natural, timeless elegance.  She favours refined hues, quality materials and precious tones inspired by the art of watercolourists (Monet?).  Her complexion is bright and luminous, subtly sculpted and her lips are natural enhanced, and her eyes dressed in soft monochromes.

A new product is the Blush Prodige - illuminating cheek colour.  The new texture includes mineral pigments and plant extracts -- bamboo powder and tomato extract, guaranteeing a radiant healthy glow.  Silky to the touch and extremely lightweight, and comfortable.  This gives luminous long lasting results and natural makeup look.

This is in the shade 03 Miami Pink.

7.5g / S$52

This collection also features a limited edition eye color and liner palette.  The Neo Pastels palette is the watercolor palette, for eyes.  You can create a range of soft fresh looks with this palette consisting of 3 pairs of complimenting shades, and a black cream liner.

The six eyeshadows have subtle delicate tones, browns, pinks and violets.  They can be applied dry, or wet.

For example: You can apply beige over the top eyelid, brown at the outer corner, and golden pink above the eyelid crease.  Or light pink over the eyelid, violet at the outer corner, and lilac above the eyelid crease.

9g / S$72

Next, is the range of Rouge Hydra Nude lipsticks, which are limited edition.  This new range of lip product contains 25% skin care ingredients.  In my swatches, I can't help but think that they feel exactly like the Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine, except that this is much lighter in texture, the scent is exactly the same!

This lipstick transforms into a cream on the lips, glides on perfectly (you can touch up without looking at the mirror, great for dates!) and gives perfectly defined lip contour.  It moisturises and nourishes lips, repairs and protects, and enhancing their beauty with natural tones.

Both shades I have here are pretty much my lips but better type of colors.  LOVES LOVES.

3g / S$35 each

The Joli Rouge Brilliant is a Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick (reminds me of my Maquillage glossy lipstick), it imparts intense shine and subtle colour for fuller-looking lips.

3.5g / S$33 each

Together with the makeup, Clarins also releases the Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate. You might recall that Clarins has their popular Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch which is a invisible makeup base (I used before it's really smooth and great at faking a flawless skin!) -- think of that, but now in a slick pen packaging.  The clever pen packaging release the product precisely, right where you need it.  Wrinkles, lines appear instantly smoother, and more even.  The result is spectacular and long lasting.

3ml / S$45

And not forgetting this mascara (which I won't use for now, as I will give it away to my sisters or for a giveaway).  It is the wonder volume mascara, which as the name states, delivers volume to your lashes.

I really like the pastel tones of this elegant collection.  And it is so timely for Valentine's Day, and spring season.

The Clarins Neo Pastels collection will be released 14 Feb at all Clarins counters.  I know I am eyeing more blushes, and the Hydra Nude lipsticks for my mama.

I will be posting more Valentine's Day/ Spring/ Watercolour inspired LOTD with this collection, and give my thoughts on them.  Stay tuned!

That's all, and hope this has been helpful.

The promo ad is super pretty and I really like the concept. I love the look of their lipsticks but I used to be allergic to Clarins lipsticks.. maybe I'll pop by the counter and give these a try.

The Rouge Hydra Nude lipsticks look really moist and the colors look so good on you.

The lip colors seem to remind me of Maquillage's Glossy Perfect Rouge with the moisturizing factor. Joli Rouge Brilliant also seem to have some shimmer going on, pretty colors (:

Sophia, you got me obsessing over the Hydra Nudes! I went to my regular Clarins counter today, and my beauty advisor said only the blushers are available (not for sale yet, though). I saw Miami Pink and it looks really pretty in person. :) I gotta wait til Monday before I can get my hands on them. :)

About Me

My name is Sophia, and I am in my early 30s. I am from Singapore and I am the sole writer of this blog.

About this Blog

I started this blog in 2006, I like to use a wide range of brands though I seem to have a growing preference for higher-end brands in recent years. I also like to share interesting things I have come across about makeup and beauty.

Currently The Makeup Blogette receives 39,000 unique views monthly or 2,238,932 views and counting.

My Makeup Style

I like classic looks (neutral tones on eyes, anything goes for lips & cheeks), though occasionally I try out dramatic/ statement looks.  I believe that a flawless base is the key to achieving great makeup looks.  I also believe that if you don't have great skin to start with, fake it with a good foundation routine, and even greater skincare.  I am currently loving Clarins & Lancome skincare products, and Vichy NormaDerm for tackling with breakouts.

What Cameras do I use?

Most of the pictures you see in post 2010 entries are taken with my Canon G-11.  Previously I was using Canon Ixus 80.  I do post some pictures which are taken with my iphone4 which I will state in that particular entry.  I have stopped watermarking my pictures as of 2011, because I think watermarks are ugly in general, and does not prevent people from stealing my pictures if they wish to.  I just take it as a compliment that my pictures are even worth stealing in the first place. I might look into getting a Canon EOS next year, not just for blogging purposes, but I also like photography in general.

My Favourite Makeup Brand(s)

It is hard to name just one, but I like NARS, Chanel, Illamasqua and the ocasional Guerlain, Dior & Urban Decay item.  I own quite a stash of MAC items, but recently I have stopped catching up with their collections, and I much prefer to splurge on a few really outstanding items.
