I have a sick weakness for Chanel nail polish. The Chanel Spring/ Summer makeup collection was launched yesterday island-wide, and I bought Black Pearl nail polish on Friday evening. Then today, I went back for Pearl Drop.... because they look like the perfect contrasting pair. I like how Chanel nail polish are very subtly shimmery, and they wear pretty well too.
I usually do my nail polish swatches in the morning sunlight, but I think the current fake indoor lighting brings out the dimension of the colour and shimmer quite well... so, this will do for now. If I get to take daylight swatches, I will post them here later on.
First up, we have Pearl Drop, which is rather sheer, you are looking at 3 coats of polish. You need a steady hand, because the brush strokes can be very visible if your hands are shaky during application. It has a gold sheen, and really just look like ... a pearl necklace.
Color description from Temptalia * click also for her swatches *
"a softened white gold frost with a slight metallic finish, sprinkled with pale gold micro-shimmer"
Next, we have Black Pearl...which applies opaque with 2 coats. Again, a steady hand makes for a smoother application, but it isn't as obvious as Pearl Drop. I wore this today, and it looks blackish gunmetal at times, and also greenish shimmery too.
Color description from Temptalia * click also for her swatches * It looks a lot greener in her pictures than in real life.
"a stormy teal-tinged blackened base with threads of metallic silvered green running through it, then topped off with green, blue, and teal micro-shimmer"
Hmmmmmm.... I definitely didn't see any blue micro shimmer! LOL Silvered green sounds about right though.
I think I want to cull my nail polish stash, getting rid of all the OPIs, CGs and CCs that I use or swatch only once. Shall propose this idea with my sis, and see if she wants to take over some of the colors herself.
That's all, and thanks for looking!
