Hi everyone! This post is just kind of going all over the place, and I am going to talk abit of everything about my recent little trip to Tokyo. Love the city, it is so vibrant, and just so happening, from the people, the food, just the whole atmposphere in general.
First thing I want to talk about are 2 magazines I bought, I don't understand Japanese, but pictures speak thousands here. I am pretty sure they are sold at stores like Kinokuniya too. JJ magazine has tons of make up related pictures, fashion spreads etc, and this July issue I picked up happens to have a whole section on MAC stuff, check out the pages with MAC lipstick swatches! :) And there are also step by step pictures showing you how to DIY your own nail art and stuff.
The next magazine, is called MORE - the only reason I bought this is because of the free COACH purse and pens that it comes with. And it costs something like S$9, so you can't beat that, right?
*cute white shades I bought in Harajuku "shop name is La Chance" I got 3 pairs of these in different colours!
*pages and pages filled with hair products, tutorials, fashion tips, etc.
Honestly, I didn't do much clothes shopping in Japan. I kind of expected it, because the sizes all tend to run really small at their local shops, and the designs are usually too cutesy for my style, and on top of all that, they are kind of pricey and not unlike things which you cann already get at Far East Plaza.
But I did get a few UTs (or Uniqlo Tees) which are only exclusive to the Harajuku store. These I got for myself, the BF, and my siblings.
I bought 3 singlet tunics at HM, and a printed scarf, which is crinkled and light and it reminds me of the LV one. :)
* Cute pretty YSL hanky/ scarf thingy I bought at matsuya ginza. Ginza area is like the Champs De Elysees in Paris.
* No prizes for wondering why this pic is taken.... hello, my name is in the store window!! ha ha
Next, MAC pro store alert!!! Further down the stree of Harajuku is Omote-Sando area, which is a high end shopping street leading up to Shibuya area. Along the way, you see the Chanel, LV, Dolce Gabbana, you name it.
I passed by a MAC store, and of course I have to check it out, and the first thing I noticed was that it is a Pro store! So I immediately thought of the Pro items I wanted to check out in my mind, and I am so happy I got them.
*I already have Fleshpot from years ago, and I think it is turning bad, hence purchasing this again. But not going to use it yet though.
Pink Vivid is a beautiful bright pink color stick, and it is multipurpose, I use this as a base for blushers to give it lastiing power and pop of pigment.
OMEGA eyeshadow. I am really into all these neutral browns which are rather muted in tone and texture.
All the MAC product have the names and info in Jap, and fortunately the MUA understood when I gave her the names of the products in English. Because honestly, except for Pink Vivid I wouldnt be able to pick out Omega and Fleshpot from the wild range of colors on display.
Next, I bought a bunch of nail products, including a little UV light. I am venturing into doing my own false nails. Shan't give a detailed run down of stuff I got, but mainly gel top coats, false nail tips for extensions, DIY intro kit etc...
I also bought some pretty stick on nails. These are unique because they are smaller in size and shorter so they fit and look like the shape of my own nails.
** Next, my first attempt at doing my own gel nails. Kind of messy, and I covered up with glitter.... but I am going to learn more by looking up some online tutorials and asking around. Ha ha.
Ok, now we have LUSH goodies.
Mainly I bought "Honey I washed the kids" and "Rockstar" soaps, "Yummy Yummy Yummy" body wash, and also a strawberry massage bar (which smells like Rockstar). If you want more information, do visit the LUSH website, and I wish we have LUSH in Singapore. Back in the days, when the only LUSH store we have at Suntec, I think I was only 15 or 16, and it just closed after a short while. But I always remember the very intensive smell of all the soaps and products it was so crazy.
Then I went to this shop called Ranking Ran Queen, which stocks the top best selling products in different categories like foundation, mascara, snacks, hair products. What a cute concept! They are located all over, and I found this store at the Shinjuku subway at the basement near the JR line.
Mainly I bought makeup base, a little palette of 'sculpt and shape' powder, and a blusher which I am most likely giving away to my sister.
NOT IN PICTURE:
Lotsa of eating, walking about, sight seeing, there was too much to see and do in my short trip, and I am just so amazed at all their make up places, every other store is selling a range of make up soon after you feel like they are all the same (stocking Maybelline, Canmake, Revlon, Loreal, Maquilliage, etc etc etc) However though, Maybelline Loreal Revlon etc are just way more expensive there.
I think that's about all the stuff, I most likely left out a few more items and all the food of course... but I hope you enjoyed this post. Did I spend too much $$?? Well, I think I am within my budget and I didn't go crazy buying lotsa stuff, and the stuff I bought, are mainly small items.
Will I go back to Japan again? Yes!!
Thanks for reading!
And nicely done, hitting up MAC Pro! I plan to hit the Pro store in NYC this summer, but I am very jealous. Also, I'm well impressed that you're doing your own gel nails! That's
awesome!
whooweee!! i wish i could go!! sound like you had lots of fun and you bought soo many goodies! I think you did a great job on your first attempt at gel nails. practice makes perfect so you'll get it soon enough.
